The song Happy Christmas (War Is Over) by John Lennon has a special meaning to those who grew up during or at the end of the Vietnam War.
John Lennon has been quoted as saying he was tired of hearing "White Christmas" played on repeat on the radio and in shops around the Holidays and wanted to produce a song that had more meaning than just the typical holiday fluff.
I believe he's given us that with this song that marks the end of fighting with a Holiday message of peace and love for all humankind.
More insights into how the song came about can be found in this tribute by BoingBoing.
