The Axis of Awesome - 4 Chords

Saw this a while back (like last year) but somehow forgot to post it. The Axis of Awesome posit that many rock and pop music hits are the same four musical chords. Certainly most in the music industry can admit there's a ton of "recycling" and in some cases blatant copying (especially of what's already popular and proven to sell).

The Axis of Awesome are:

  • Jordan Raskopoulos
  • Lee Naimo
  • Benny Davis

If you like this you should definitely buy their album on iTunes, or, if instant updates about what people ate for breakfast is for you then follow them on Twitter or at least like them on Facebook

Jayme Gutierrez - DIY MySpam

back with a new and crazy music video. This song is about all the people that are hoping to be found and survive (and maybe haver a success) with their songs or their videos or art or whatever they love to do. It's about how to be success. Thanks to the new technologies, we all can make ourselves heard. Internet is a fabulous way to promote our work and make money but like everything in this life, it also brings bad things like the fine line between promotion and spam. It's in your hands to decide if something deserves to be shared but I hope that you post it, share it, deal it, steal it, I don't mind! Donating coins will keep us alive! (If you want to DONATE): http://is.gd/V0xuAM (but you can BUY it on itunes) http://ow.ly/fbX5D (or amazon) http://ow.ly/fbX0X LISTEN my music: http://soundcloud.com/jaymegutierrez Or get the TORRENT; http://www.jaymegutierrez.com/music.html Video made by my brother Joe! Why Doesnt MTV Play Music Videos Anymore?

From sketch duo Brian and Maria comes an installment from a mock series called "Ask a Network Head." What follows the age-old question about MTV programming is perhaps the most brutal verbal takedown you'll hear all year.

OK Go - Needing/Getting

The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles.

A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they'd play the right note no matter where they were struck. For more information and to download the studio version of the song for free, visit LetsDoThis and OkGO's official website. Many thanks to Chevy for believing in and supporting such an insane and ambitious project, and to Gretsch for providing the guitars and amps.

Director: Brian L. Perkins & Damian Kulash, Jr. Director of Photography: Yon Thomas Editor: Doug Walker Producer: Luke Ricci

Support the band by buying this song on iTunes.

Blackfly

This animated film about the pesky blackfly is based on the song of the same title, written and sung by Canadian folk singer Wade Hemsworth, with back-up vocals by the McGarrigle sisters. It recounts Hemsworth's battles with this quintessential "critter" during a summer of surveying in Northern Ontario. According to The Travellers' 1960-1966 album, "This Land Is Your Land": "The humorous 'Black Flies' (song) had been written by Montrealer Wade Hemsworth after a particularly unpleasant sojourn in northern Ontario in 1949 with a Hydro survey team."
