In honor of ClimateGate 2.0 (for coverage see WhatsUpWithThat's ClimateGate 2.0 thread), here's an encore presentation of The Great Global Warming Swindle (previously featured in our now defunct daily clips section), a polemic documentary film that argues against the scientific consensus that global warming is "very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations". The film, made by British television producer Martin Durkin, showcases scientists, economists, politicians, writers, and others who are sceptical about the scientific theory of anthropogenic global warming. The programme's publicity materials assert that man-made global warming is "a lie" and "the biggest scam of modern times." Its original working title was "Apocalypse my arse", but the title The Great Global Warming Swindle was later adopted as an allusion to the 1980 mockumentary The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle about British punk band The Sex Pistols. The UK's Channel 4 premiered the documentary on 8 March 2007. The channel described the film as "a polemic that drew together the well-documented views of a number of respected scientists to reach the same conclusions. This is a controversial film but we feel that it is important that all sides of the debate are aired." According to Hamish Mykura, Channel 4's head of documentaries, the film was commissioned "to present the viewpoint of the small minority of scientists who do not believe global warming is caused by anthropogenic production of carbon dioxide." Although the documentary was welcomed by global warming sceptics, it was criticised by scientific organisations and individual scientists (including two of the film's contributors). The film's critics argued that it had misused and fabricated data, relied on out-of-date research, employed misleading arguments, and misrepresented the position of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Channel 4 and Wag TV (the production company) accepted some of the criticism, correcting some errors in subsequent releases.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)'s Rex Murphy discusses ClimateGate.
If you needed any more assurance the growing ClimateGate scandal is far more significant than America’s media has been portraying, you got it Tuesday night from Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart.rnrnSomewhat surprisingly, “The Daily Show†host in his opening sketch tore apart the scientists involved in sending the obtained e-mail messages for showing “a clear effort to raise fears about global warming, and hide evidence against it.â€rnrnStewart even mocked the man responsible for spreading more fear on this subject than anyone on the planet:rnrn Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. OH. OH the irony.

We Are Change (NYC) - Event this Saturday
WeAreChange NYC Danny, Matt and Heather confronted Al Gore in NYC during his recent book signing. Along with the wave of WeAreChange chapters all around the country confronting this con man, we are making a strong stance against liars using global warming to gain more power and control away from the people.
Al Gore has just cancelled a high-profile appearance at the upcoming Copenhagen climate change conference only days after ‘ClimateGate’ revelations cast doubt on the legitimacy of the scientific ‘consensus’ (“hiding the decline†is not scientific in any respect). Just days ago, CRU director Phil Jones stepped down from his position at East Anglia University.
Further, Gore has been confronted by We Are Change and other groups at book signing events everywhere he goes– and apparently his only response to charges of fraud is to unleash his goons to drag out dissenters. Sounds like Eco-fascism to me. It’s easy to reach consensus when opponents are barred from the conversation.

A parody of "Draggin the Line" by Tommy James and the Shondells. Which I think is where the term "Treehugger" comes from "Huggin a tree when you get near it" was the original lyric which I replaced with "you should have chopped more trees instead of hugging them".rnrnHide The Decline Shirt and Mug Now Available!rnhttp://www.cafepress.com/m4gw
