It’s not an uncommon sight: a university student stumbling from bar to bar on a pub crawl.
But here’s the twist: on Saturday, students and young adults will be bar-hopping – and it’s all for charity.
Moosehead Breweries is teaming up with young adults from all over the Atlantic provinces to raise money for the Atlantic Chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Leading up to the event, the organizers will be selling the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s ‘Think Pink’ bracelets for $5. When signing up, if one has a pink bracelet, registration will only be $25, instead of $30.
Organizer Bryan Copeland said the participants are also encouraged to raise funds with pledge sheets for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
“There have always been pub crawls held by students towards the end of the summer. I guess you could sort of look at this as the next generation pub crawl – one that’s a little more controlled, but most importantly, one that raises money for a good cause,” Copeland said, adding the goal is to raise $5,000.
“We tried the pub crawl thing last year with moderate success. Now we’re taking it to the next level with the individual pledges and a more controlled contest setting. ”
Copeland adds that the pub crawl is a perfect way to make a difference, and have a blast at the same time.
The organizing committee is still looking for volunteers for the event, as well as local businesses to get involved or consider making a direct donation.
The pub crawl will begin in Riverview at the Fox & Hound, and then mosey over to Dooly’s, the Chris Rock, Heritage Court, Navigator’s, Wize Guys, Oxygen, The Old Triangle and finally to Club Cosmo, along with a few surprises along the way.
