Starting off on a “smashing” note!

Looks like I’m off to quite a start, as I haven’t really blogged much of anything since the first post. Well, its time to really put the “smashing” into it as advertised, by getting smashed for charity…
That’s right, it’s time for the 4th Annual Atlantic University Students in support of Breast Cancer Research all night long get-together, aka “Crawl for the Cure” as it has affectionately become known as.
This year we’re going to try to one-up our turn-out and funds raised last year, which is going to be pretty tough considering last year was by far the biggest and best grossing charity pub crawl for breast cancer research and awareness that I’ve ever heard of! Take a look at the pitch we made to C-103 for a radio spot to promote the event, and we can also confirm that we will have an article in Section A (that’s the first section) of the Times & Transcript (more to come on that soon):
Feel free to reuse the info in there we’ve put together over the years, in fact please circulate it as widely as possible!!!
My hope has always been that people will get inspired and organize events of their own, after hearing about this slightly peculiar, but unique fundraiser.
Here’s a reminder that 100% of funds raised will be going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) – Atlantic Chapter, and we’re doing our best as usual to keep costs as low as possible by printing & hot-pressing our own t-shirts by hand and iron, getting Meat donated by Rinzler’s Meat and buns courtesy of Ben’s Bakery for the Barbeque, and securing more discounts or contributions from Bar owners than ever before. We’d like to thank Rick from Navigator’s Pub / Miss Cue for being the most generous sponser, as usual!
Also Wayne at the Chris Rock Tavern stepped up and definitely got our attention to stop by his bar for a good portion of the night.
As for anyone wishing to attend the event, you can download the forms included in the zipped folder above to raise money beforehand at your office, place of work, home or anywhere else where you might find people looking to contribute to a great cause!

BC$ = Behavior, Content, Money

The goal of the BC$ project is to raise awareness and make changes with respect to the three pillars of information freedom - Behavior (pursuit of interests and passions), Content (sharing/exchanging ideas in various formats), Money (fairness and accessibility) - bringing to light the fact that:
1. We regularly hand over our browser histories, search histories and daily online activities to companies that want our money, or, to benefit from our use of their services with lucrative ad deals or sales of personal information.
2. We create and/or consume interesting content on their services, but we aren't adequately rewarded for our creative efforts or loyalty.
3. We pay money to be connected online (and possibly also over mobile), yet we lose both time and money by allowing companies to market to us with unsolicited advertisements, irrelevant product offers and unfairly structured service pricing plans.
